This featured outfit-of-the-day is truly an easy one to create. This dress is a peach knit dress with pleats at the neckline. I was shopping in the New York & Company storefront last month and I saw a similar dress. I took a picture of it and decided to compose a replica. Below is the inspirational piece aside my piece.
I found this fabric at a local fabric shop, my love of color choose this peach knit. If you are ever in the Atlanta area check out Fine Fabrics store for great deals and selections.
To be truthful, I an unsure of the road that I’m traveling concerning patterns and creating these days. For example, I started to use Simplicity pattern 1253 for this dress but then I wanted to change so many aspects of the garment that I decided to self-draft on a mannequin. I have been working with patterns diligently for the past two years to get back into the groove of sewing apparel. I think I am moving forward to becoming a designer of my own patterns. I need to create a sloper. What is a sloper you ask? A sloper is a paper pattern for your particular body in which you use as a base to create your own garment. No more will you have to alter patterns because your sloper fits you perfectly.
Overall, this is an easy make. A dress with pleats at the neckline with a neckband and armhole and skirt hems. I almost forgot to mention the earrings and bracelet were created using a wrapping technique around a bracelet or earring using gloss.
Until next time. …. create your style!
