Beginner Kids Learn To Sew Workshops

Saturdays May 18 and June 1, 2024.  Times:  11:15 AM - 1:15 PM

Mondays May 6, 13 and 20, 2024.  Times:  4:45 PM-6:05 PM

Cost: $135 for two 2 hour sessions (Sat.) or three 1 hour and 20 minute sessions (Mon.) (total of 4 hours).

Ages 8-16. A minimum of 2-3 students is needed for class to be held.

SUMMER SEWING PROGRAM:

Flexible kids summer sewing workshops options include a one-day, two-day or three-day option. Each class is two hours in length. Workshop cost is $68 per class. Beginner and New Students will need to register for at least 2 sessions! Times are Saturdays 11:15 am-1:15pm. Monday are from 5pm-7pm!

Available dates are Saturday June 8, Saturday June 22, Saturday June 29, Saturday July 6, Saturday July 20, Saturday July 27, 2024. Also, Monday June 3, Monday June 24, Monday July 8, Monday July 29, 2024.

INTERESTED IN SUMMER CAMP?

This is a skill-building program for students to acquire knowledge of basic sewing techniques. This is a private group workshop (6 participants max.) built to promote independence and confidence, build community amongst sewists and foster possible career avenues and side income potential amongst participants. 

No prior experience is required …. only an open mind!

Workshops are conveniently held in Historic College Park, GA right off Main Street. The address will be sent at registration.

Class size: 6 students maximum per session. 

Having a sewing machine at home is preferred, though a class set of machines are available. Instructor will give homework assignments. In order to make accurate progress with sewing much practice is needed. Hence, please think of purchasing a standard sized sewing machine. Instructor is available to assist with this process.

Outline of Beginner Sewing Monthly Workshop:

Session #1

Introductions, Discuss your sewing why?, An Introduction to Sewing and Flowing, Basic Sewing Tools/Notions, Explaining Sewing Machine, Threading, Machine Stitching Practice and Review Techniques. , Fabric Basics 101, Cutting basics. Start Project with possible finish. Sample projects include Pillow, Neck Pillow, Eye Mask, Sunglass case, Scrunchie, Tote Bag, etc.

Session #2

Review Session #1 Information, Finish Project. Start second project and possible finish project.

Masks are not required for these workshops! Masks are preferred.

Please arrive 5 minutes early in order to set up the sewing machine and be ready for class session.

All supplies are included in Beginner registration! Sewing machine, notions, fabric, and other materials are included in the class fee. Feel free to bring 1 yard of cotton fabric or sewing machine for the first month of projects.
