Beginner Adults Learn To Sew Workshops

Monday’s May 6, 13 and 20, 2024 Times: 6:10 PM- 8:10 PM

Fridays May 10, 17, and 24, 2024 Times: 6:10 PM- 8:10 PM.

Saturdays May 11, 18 and 25, 2024 Times: 1:40 PM- 3:40 PM.

Cost: $230 for three 2-hour sessions.

Class size: 6 students maximum per session. (Ages 17+)

A minimum of 2 participants or workshop will be rescheduled.

This is a skill-building program for students to acquire knowledge of basic sewing techniques. This is a private group workshop (6 participants max.) built to promote independence and confidence, build community amongst sewists and foster possible career avenues and side income potentials amongst participants.  No prior experience is required …. only an open mind!

Workshops are conveniently held in Historic College Park, GA right off Main Street. The address will be sent at registration.

Having a sewing machine at home is preferred, though a class set of machines are available. Instructor will give homework assignments. In order to make accurate progress with sewing much practice is needed. Hence, please think of purchasing a standard sized sewing machine. Instructor is available to assist with this process.

Outline of Beginner Sewing Monthly Session:

Session #1

Introductions, Discuss your sewing why?, An Introduction to Sewing and Flowing, Basic Sewing Tools/Notions, Explaining Sewing Machine, Threading, Machine Stitching Practice and Review Techniques. Create Project.

Session #2

Review of Session #1 Information and Stitching Practice, Fabric Basics 101, Cutting basics. Finish Project. Start Project #2.

Session #3

Review Session #1 and #2 Information. Start project #2 and #3.

Sample projects include: Basic Pillow, Pillowcase, eye mask, zipper bag,totebag, etc,

Masks are not required for these workshops! Masks are preferred.

Please arrive 10 minutes early in order to set up sewing machine and be ready for class session.

All supplies are included in Beginner registration! Sewing machine, notions, fabric, and other materials are included in the class fee. Feel free to bring 1 yard of fabric for the first month of projects. Beginner finished projects include pillow, simple totebag, neck pillow, zipper bag or pouch box.
